Accent walls
An accent wall is one wall painted a different color from the rest of the room. Done well, it gives a room a focal point without the commitment of painting every wall dark. We help you choose which wall and which color, then cut it in with clean, straight lines at the corners, ceiling and trim, so it looks planned and not like you ran out of paint.
Deep colors often need an extra coat to look even. We plan for that up front.
Hand-painted line drawing murals
We also paint simple hand-drawn line murals: a single-color drawing of flowers, branches or leaves across part of a wall. The photos on this page show two of them. One is a magnolia line drawing in blue-gray on a tan dining room wall with crown molding and a chandelier. The other is a floral line drawing on the side wall of a living room in Moore, SC, next to a fireplace with a white mantel and columns.
These work well in dining rooms, entryways, nurseries and bedrooms. They add a hand-made touch without filling the whole wall. We talk through the design with you first, sketch where it sits on the wall, and paint it after the base color has cured.
Painted designs work outside, too. The neighborhood entrance sign in our photos is one: a painted monogram on a sign set into the entrance fence.
Honest about scope
If you are searching for a mural artist in Greenville for a large, full-color scene, a detailed portrait, or a big outdoor mural on a business, that is fine art and a specialist’s job. We would rather tell you that up front than take on something that isn’t our strength. What we do well is clean accent walls and simple line murals as part of painting your home. We are glad to paint the base wall for a mural someone else will paint.
Which paint level fits
- Performance (Duration Home): a good choice for most accent walls; it handles scuffs and wiping.
- Showcase (Emerald): the best color depth and coverage, worth it for deep and moody colors.
- Essential (SuperPaint): fine for a guest room or a wall that won’t see much traffic.
What affects the price
Accent walls are priced by the size of the wall and the paint level, and deep colors that need an extra coat are planned for up front. Murals are priced after we see the design and the wall. Either way, you get a written price before we start.
